About the founder

On returning to Trinidad she then opened her home to some of the homeless youths with whom she worked with on the streets, thereafter moving to various buildings (see history) ending up at their present location. It was by no means an easy task, but through the labour of love and commitment she continued and persevered in making Rainbow Rescue one of the top homes in Trinidad today

With the help of a Good Samaritan, a property in was rented where they stayed for two (2) years, before being allowed to occupy Government property at #6 Jerningham Place Belmont where Rainbow Rescue was based for a little over 10years.

Mrs. Judy Wilson is a mother of four who has been involved in charity work for most of her life. She started Rainbow Rescue, a home for boys, in 1999 with a few of her very close friends.
Mrs Wilson began working with children on the streets of the city in 1996. She believed that children should not be alone on the streets hungry and dirty, sleeping on the sidewalks and in abandoned buildings, prey to danger and exploitation.

Soon the problem with Street Children was becoming more visible in the city, so therefore Mrs. Wilson travelled to the USA to visit with one of the more reputable organizations and followed their model of running a Children’s Home.

On December 6th 2013, by no means an easy task, but through the labour of love and commitment, after completing renovations of an abandoned government building at #2 Saddle Road, Rainbow Recue made another move. Presently, the home continues and perseveres, as one of the top homes in the country and was licensed by the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago in 2016.

Since 1999, Rainbow Rescue has rescued over 200 boys, briefly housed girls at the St. James property and even opened a home for girls in Tacarigua for a short time. However, Rainbow Rescue’s vision continues to focus on assisting and providing for the young men of this nation as its primary mission.
